Swimming

Jamieson is having a blast with the pool. It's two feet deep, which is just right for him to splash around in. When he gets on his knees, the water's up to his chin. I've been trying to teach him how to float, but all he's interested in doing is splashing me in the face and trying to dunk me.

Rainbow Valley

A couple of weekends ago, a big flock of us descended on Rainbow Valley. We had a fantastic time, and spent the day there. I'm so sad that this is the last year of operation for this place. As kids, we spent our whole summer waiting for two things: Our annual trip to Rainbow Valley, and "The Exhibition" (Old Home Week).

Mom has a very similar pic of me at the bottom of the castle slide. It used to be a long metal slide that burnt the back of your legs if it was sunny out...and I highly doubt there were any safety nets there in the 70s, lol.

Here's Jamie and Alyssa waiting for the train. They had such a great time together.

Jamie and Lucas under the sprinkler umbrella. The wading pool area and kiddie water slide were probably J's favourite spots at the park. I have video of J on the waterslide, but didn't get any pics. We'll be going back again before the summer's over, so I'll make sure to get some then.

One of the biggest changes at RBV from when I was a kid are the rides. When we used to go, there were rowboats, paddleboats and canoes. Now they have a little roller coaster, a monorail thing that goes over the lake, a few kiddie rides, a tilt-a-whirl and a paratrooper. And, of course, Jamieson loved all of them. I've never had motion sickness, but I came pretty close to my first bout of it after half a dozen, back-to-back rides on the tilt-a-whirl. barf. Aunt Charmaine had to take him on the paratrooper though, I didn't think I could handle it.

Mrs. Owl is still there though! The barn animals and fortune teller are still there too. I remember one of us (Dwayne probably) bugged the hell out of Mrs. Owl one day...she wouldn't answer him at all after a while. heh. It must've been Dwayne the pain.

Here's Jamieson reciting the works of L.M. Montgomery...

I can't wait to get back there. I think I had as much fun as Jamieson did.

New Bike

At Jamieson's daycare, Wednesdays are bike days for the three year olds, so we got him his first bike at Canadian Tire. Here he is in his suit of armour.

He does alright, until he picks up speed on the driveway...then everything goes to hell. The hands go up, the feet come off the pedals, and he screeeaaams. He calls it "The Rocket Run". My nerves.

Puppies!

There have been a two new arrivals over the past few months. My brother got a beagle pup, Dexter, and Billy's sister got a toy poodle, Jasmine. Now that Jemma's nine years old, I kind of forgot how much fun puppies are.

Here's Jamieson playing with Dexter at my mom's house. I'm stating CLEARLY that this is my mom's house, because I don't want anyone to think that I own that green carpet. THAT'S OVER 30 YEARS OLD, MOM! THIRTY! ;)

We looked after Jasmine for a weekend in early June. She's grown quite a bit since this picture, but she's still teeny.
