Happy Birthday to Youuuuu...

Someone I know has just turned the big "3". He had not one, but TWO birthday parties. One at Nanny Gormley's on Saturday, and one at home on Sunday.

Opening his presents. He's gotten much faster at it since Christmas...he's not as bothered by teeny, tiny pieces of wrapping paper stuck to the present.

Mr. Cheesy

Blowing out/spitting on his candles. I'm surprised Dad would have any cake after that.

Had to put this one in too...isn't she gorgeous? Looks a lot like her auntie...

Here he is opening presents at his birthday party we had for him here on Sunday. He had lots of help :)

Feeding his Luv Cub. I'm supposed to be "very quiet" around it because he thinks every time it wakes up he has to feed it. So I wake it up on purpose all the time...payback's a bitch, ain't it, little boy?

And finally, the thing he was most excited about...his Mighty Machines cake. He couldn't *wait* to get at those toys.

Yay!

Got a letter from the provincial adoption consultant today :)

Please accept my congratulations on once again becoming an approved adoptive family with Health and Social Services. We are very pelased to have you as an adoption resource.

You are now registered on our list of families waiting placement. Your registry date is February 6, 2004. The summary specification on the Registry indicates we may approach you for possible placement of a child of either sex up to the age of five years presenting with moderate risk factors, and also that you would consider a sibling pair under eight years of age. It also indicates that you would consider participating in some level of openness with the birth family.

Be assured we are very pleased to have your family as an adoption resource for the children of this Province who are in need of families.

Heh. So now we wait. Again. Kinda like a positive pregnancy test, huh? ;)

Our outdoor rink is up and running!

But probably not for long if THIS forecast comes true. I can't believe they're predicting a high of almost 10°C on Friday!

Here are some pics from yesterday of Billy and his uncle Bruce (and Jamieson 'n Jemma) working on the rink. They managed to flood the ice twice, and they strung up the lights too. By mid afternoon there were quite a few people skating, and there were some later that evening as well.

Here's a long shot of the rink. I should've remembered to take my camera down afterwards when everyone was skating.

I think we should get a sponsor for our zamboni ;) Maybe Moosehead? Billy's uncle Norman rigged up this trailer with an old tank, and they attached a bunch of pipes that Billy's dad had made at his shop. The blanket...well, I'm not really sure where that came from...no one will claim it as theirs.

Daddy's little helper...who helped a LOT when he stuffed a bunch of change into daddy's seat belt buckle. Billy tried to get it buckled later on that day and it wouldn't work. He was muttering to himself wondering what the heck was wrong with it when Jamie said, "I put all your money in the hole, Daddy!" Awwww...wasn't that sweet? *snicker* Seriously though, anyone have any good ideas on how to get the change out? I would imagine most of it is pennies, so a magnet is out.

And Daddy's other little helper. She stayed in the back of the truck the whole time Billy flooded the ice. Crazy dog.

We gave Jamieson a couple of early birthday gifts. We wanted the sled for hauling him to the rink when he's got his skates on so we could lace his skates in the house, not out in the cold. Of course he needed a scraper just like his dad's, so we gave that to him early as well. He's had a great time with both of them already :)

Here's a shot of the woods at the back corner of the rink. You can see a few of the many trees that came down during Juan.

I'll have to get a pic of the kid on skates, but he wouldn't let me let go of him long enough to take one. He's quite the ankle burner, but he's still having fun with it so he'll only get better. He has more fun just pushing snow with his scraper...too bad he won't want to do that when he's older :)
